SAGE EBR Sight-In and Accuracy (Range Report)
0.573" 3-shot group below (Top group was sight in with the 168 gr.)
Here are the specs on my gun:
Stock SAI 18" Scout model
- SAGE EBRMOD 1 stock
- Fulton Armory NM trigger job
- SEI Dovetail FSBwith Vortex DC hider
- Larue LT-608 mount with Nightforce Ultralight rings (low)
- Nightforce NXS Compact 2.5-10x32mm scope with NPR-2
I have been putting together my EBR MOD-1 for about a year. Well today (6-25-2010) I finally got to sight it in and play with it some. It definitely takes some getting used to learning how to shoot these M1A's well and I am still learning.
I started off at 25 yards to get on paper and then moved to 50 and 100 yards to work on my shooting (using 150 gr plinking ammo). Well after about 30 rounds of sighting in, I got some Black Hills 168 gr Match ammo out to sight in for the heavier ammo and shoot a group before I had to go.
It was hot today so I only shot one serious group once I had it (and me) dialed in but I was very pleased. I was able to get a 0.573" 3-shot group at 100 yards! I know some people would discount a 3-shot group but I am very pleased and I am not shooting in a match, just trying to squeeze accuracy out of my gun.
I'm not sure if I could repeat it but I was very pleased with this last group of the day. I will certainly try again next time I go to the range and also shoot some 5 shot groups but I was very pleased with this rifle so far.

168 gr from a 18 inch barrel with that group is good, but will 168 gr work with a Socom II 16 in barrel? If anyone can help me with the right weight bullet from my Socom II that would help me alot. Can't figure the right bullet from my rifle.
