Troy MCS Range Test
I recently got a Troy Modular Chassis System for my Springfield Armory M1A Scout. It looked cool, but how well did it perform on the range? I needed to zero my EOTech, so, I decided to test the rifle. We fired several hundred rounds of British, Venezuelan, and American surplus 7.62x51mm NATO and commercial Hornady SST .308 ammo. Besides the simple prone supported, I wanted to troy some reflexive fire. It becomes a pain to do with an M4 after a while, how well would the M1A be in her new skirt? I'll let the photo's and video tell the rest of the story.
M1A during the zeroing process. With out a bore laser to bore-sight the EOTech, the zeroing process was interesting to say the least.
Final grouping of the zeroing ammo. The EOTech was Zeroed using British 7.62x51mm NATO ammo, marked with the NATO cross and "RG", as well as the "94". The final grouping with it including one magazine malfunction, and the loading of one last round, which accounts for both flyer shots. The other group in this picture is a three round group of Hornady SST (ballistic tip) commercial .308 ammo. I'll be using it for hunting, and I wanted to see how far off it was from the British surplus ammo.
