Well, I have to say, my hat is off to Ron and Andy at SEI. My (LRB Crazy Horse ® arrived Friday and , just by what I could see, SEI went above and beyond my expectations. A huge, heart-felt, "Thank you Ron/Andy, I appreciate that." falls short.

General observations: The rifle arrived with my NF scope mounted and ready - sighted in at SEI with Hornady 168 TAP. For starters I noticed 3 things immediately. 1) They did not take the stock Springfield rear sight off of the SAI receiver and put it on the LRB receiver. They installed a new SEI NM Bar Stock steel rear sight ($200.00). 2) My GI SAK Op rod was gone. In it's place was a brand new SEI forged op rod ($180.00). And 3) They installed the "USMC" inscribed Gas Lock Front Sight - Hooded.

I am definitely not a photographer, but this shows off their work as best I can. It is great for me to see after so long a process.

I took it out to the range today, even though it was around 95 degrees, 85% humidity, and scattered thunder showers...it was freakin HOT! I used Hornady 168gr A-Max ammo.

Over all, the groups were fairly decent. I had a few fliers attributed to me alone. Some kind of NRA team was shooting off to my left, the guy directly adjacent to my left was shooting some kind of land cannon that rattled my brains each time he shot. The guy directly to my right, and up wind , was a huge (overweight) young man who evidently did not believe in wasting water and/or soap to bathe... the humidity did not help at all - the stench hovered so heavily that it was actually hard to breathe at times . So I probably was a little surprised at times from the left, and held my breath a little longer due to the right... which made it slightly harder to time my shots with my pounding heart beat.

Anyway, here are a few groups. They were all about the same, with most having a flier that was totally unrelated to mags, order of round in mag, or last/first shot... just me. (BTW - I didn't bring much ammo and needed to zero the irons before leaving, so most groups were 3-4 rounds.)

Four rounds (all Hornady 168 A-Max), with flier opened it up to 7/8" group:

Another 4 rounds with a flier that killed a nice 3/8" 3-shot group:

Three rounds about 5/8":

I realize that they are small shot # groups, but it was hot and rainy and I wasn't hanging out long. I'm not disappointed given the very short trigger time I've had on this platform/rifle. I may take it out for groups again in the fall to see what I can really squeeze out of her. Currently, she's on hog duty as I have some local farmers requesting help !

Thank you guys for following, the advice, and support through this whole FUBAR. I have learned a lot on many fronts. Ron at SEI is a stand-up guy. Please do not hesitate to contact him if you are interested in the best M14 money can buy.
