MISS ELEANOR w/Range Report
Keeping the ball rolling here about the "Wood"
chassis I own, Here is another favorite Traditional wood stocks of mine.
I want to introduce to all of you and from an excerpt from the TFL
Forum, I present "Miss Eleanor"
-----------------------------------
I finally was able to get her out for a photo shoot.(she's the stubborn one of the bunch) Long story short> I shopped the PX and answered a WTS add and acquired the M14E2 A1 stock. In getting the M14E2 A1 stock I had asked the same owner(raptor) if he had the barrel action that came with her. He replied yes and it came from Springfield Armory Inc. I asked if he ever decided to sell the barrel action to match the M14E2 A1 stock that came from the SAI please lemme know.
Hold and behold about 3 to 4 months later I got a PM from raptor saying he wants to sell the rest of her. The rest is history and Eleanor is here with the rest of my concubine of M14/M1A rifles. Eleanor came a long ways from the beautiful cold chilly state of Alaska to the hot sunny state of Hawaii. A few upgrades will be added: a slotted hand guard and one of Hawk's FDS-S-std dummy "switch" kits.
First of all I wanna thank dighawaii one of our senior moderators who have influenced me in the interest on the M14E2 rifle and

RANGE REPORT: 8/22/09
Ammo :
American Eagle .308 168gr OTM
Position: Bench Shooting using sand bags
Target Paper: 100 Yard High Power Rifle Target (SR-1), Iron Sights
Note: I am not affiliated nor endorsing American Eagle ammo .That was the cheapest ammo I can purchase and sure was a good buy and the results was an excellent one.
Ok.... .Lauren is done with her range report, now its Eleanor's turn.
Lauren's> "Day at the Range"http://m14tfl.com/upload/showthread.php?t=71831
She is one stubborn at that. I stack 3 targets one on top the other. Elevation setting is 6 clicks from bottom and center line at windage. Before looking at 1st photo, bear in mind these settings left the cold state of Alaska. First shot I made did not hit paper.........(thinking to myself) " Did i hit anything?...where is the bullet hole?". Second shot fired........same scenario. " Holy crapola Batman!!" now i am dumb founded. Looking through my spotting scope i finally saw the two bullet holes.............both shots fired between the middle of top/bottom target. So in other words, the bullets hit my target frame and my windage was off centered so to speak.
Not good I said to myself, so I moved my windage knob to the right about 3 clicks which went to the next line over from center. 3rd and 4th shot fired...still to the left. I needed to move my front sight to left......but!!.....I did not have the allen wrench to move the darn thingy. I have forgotten to mention on Lauren's range report that Mr. dighawaii also was at the shooting complex. I kindly asked Tom if he had an allen wrench so I can adjust my front sight. Tom told me that its only a hair/fraction movement, so I adjusted the front sight as needed and made the necessary adjustment to the windage knob and spent a total of 10 rds. No photo of the 10 rds. fired cause it was not worth looking at and both shots busted the left side of my target frame.
1st Photo> 100yds: 10 rounds> American Eagle .308 168gr OTM

After getting Eleanor back in the saddle/paper I shot 10 more rounds as the photos shows. My alignment/mark to target was also front sight at bottom/black of 6 o'clock position at the top target( I believe they call it the Lollipop sight). Now I feel much better now and the sunshine must have thawed her out .
2nd Photo>100yds: 10 rounds> American Eagle .308 168gr OTM

Whew......after calming down....took a break..talk story with dighawaii about Eleanor and other stuffs, I followed up with the rest of the 10 rds I had left. It was drizzling with rain(Photo shows water marks) and a bit windy towards the end, but i was still able to control and guide Eleanor where she belongs!.........On the black!. I am not sure what happened to the flier on the top left side of the target?? In an earlier conversation with dighawaii he asked me where my target is? I told him where my target was and while he was joking he mentioned he was going to shoot at my target. We both was LOL.
I then took the target after the tenth round and showed him the flier he gave me and said "Wasn't Me".
In short the last ten rounds was the fine tuning part of her. I had a great time at the range to sight in both Eleanor and Lauren.
Bradduh raptor thanks for the the M1AE2-A1 she is in good hands now and well taken care of. Bradduh dighawaii thanks for the allen wrench and laughs.

Well I hope all you enjoyed the "Wood" stock with the range reports. I had fun shooting both Sheba and Eleanor. There are a few more traditional wood and fiberglass stock in the works and maybe..........just maybe I may eat my own words and present them here as well......nah!......not gonna happen.
